🍐 Handmade Pear Syrup: Warm and Soothing🍯
The First Frost, known as "霜降" (Shuangjiang) in Chinese, marks the final solar term of autumn in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar. It is the season when pears ripen. According to Chinese medicine, it is an ideal time for health preservation. In Liuying Village, Laohekou, Hubei, villagers craft pear syrup by hand, adding a touch of wellness to the late autumn.
Local villager Liu Shuangzhen says: “pears harvested after the First Frost are the sweetest.” Simmered with nourishing ingredients like red dates, aged ginger, and monk fruit, the pears transform into an amber-colored syrup. When dissolved in warm water, it offers a sweet, comforting warmth while helping to moisturise the lungs and relieve coughs.
Would you like to try this delicious and health-supporting pear syrup? ☕✨
